Learn about Dark Profiles,
BETA’s traffic light system
Essential guide for staff. BETA’s traffic light system indicates visitor climbing status and permissions, ensuring smooth and safe access to climbing activities.
You gain permission over a user’s account when they sign your waiver or other intake document, or if you Search for a BETA app profile, via QR code.
🔗 Visitor QR Codes
This help article covers the various QR codes connected to a visitor's profile.
This document serves as a record that the profile has given you and your staff permission to manage their account on their behalf, so make sure you include any locally-required statements in your waiver document.
You can upload an internal photo to a visitor’s profile for identification purposes, ideal for quick visual verification at check-in or during manual validation.
This image is only visible to staff and will not be shared with the visitor or used in external communications.
If a photo is taken at one gym location, it will automatically be shared across all of that gym’s locations.
Climbers can also upload a personal profile picture in the BETA app. This image will be visible to gyms unless a gym has taken its own photo of the climber, as explained above.
Once a gym uploads a photo, that image replaces the climber’s personal picture within that gym’s system. This gym photo can only be changed by gym administrators and will remain fixed, even if the climber updates their personal profile picture again via the BETA app.
In summary, climbers can have:
One personal profile picture — editable by the climber at any time.
One gym photo per gym — managed only by gym staff and shared across all locations of that gym, overriding any updates made by the climber via the BETA app.
When you cannot see the edit profile button, this represents an account who has not given your gym privileges over their details. To gain access to their account, you will have to get them to sign your waiver or other intake form. This happens either when visitors make a profile on the app first or they have a profile which was first at another BETA gym.
Navigate to the profile of the email you wish to alter, and click the Edit button.
To do this, you can use Plus Addressing.Plus Addressing is a feature that allows you to create variations of your primary email address by adding a “+” sign followed by custom text, placed just before the “@” symbol. For example, if your main email address is firstname.lastname@example.com, you can create variations such as firstname.lastname+childname@example.com to use for a child's profile. You can create as many variations as needed. All messages sent to these variations will still arrive in your main inbox, but each variation can be used to log in to a separate child or inclusive climber profile.NB: It is important that the email domain remains the same throughout, as the syncing of the variations depends on the domain.
Yes, visitor profiles can share an email. BETA will automatically link these profiles together. This ensures that only one email has access to a profile. Looking to Manually create a new visitor profile
